Memoir of a Snail

In the stop-motion animated tragicomedy titled, Memoir of a Snail produced in 2024, Adam Elliot, an Australian director who is acknowledged for his beautiful storytelling patterns creates this masterpiece. The film is about examining the intricacies of human life through her extraordinary protagonist and indeed a real life or more accurately, a story of hope.


Synopsis

The central character is Grace Pudel, an oil painter who appears sad and keeps snails, collects trashy romance novels and owns a guinea pig. Grace starts to narrate the story of her life to her pet snail Sylvia after her best friend, Pinky dies. Pain, loss, and healing are made funny and nonsensical using this style. The way the film is made can be classified as memoir – it tells the story of sex in the space of several episodes – from childhood until adulthood season where each episode, focuses on Gracie and other characters created veneratio vulgaris and centrals.

The picture screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 10, 2024, during which it won the Cristal Award for a Feature Film.
