The film’s disjointed storyline and quick-paced conversations match the feeling of a family reunion; it shows the joys of the gathering but also the tensions that exist within these gatherings. The actors, and especially Matilda Fleming and Maria Dizzia, manage to imbue their characters so well that the viewers, as if participating in the last Chrismas of the Balsano family in their family house, essay December 25th in the year 1999.
