Out of My Mind

“Out of My Mind” is an American coming-of-age drama film directed by Amber Sealey and is derived from a book of the same name by Sharon M. Draper published in 2010. The movie first was screened on January 19, 2024, at the Sundance Film Festival and will be available on Disney Plus starting November 22, 2024.

Synopsis

The plot focuses on a 12-year-old girl, Melody Brooks. She is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and is nonverbal as well as she uses a wheelchair. Even with her disabilities, Melody is an intelligent young lady with a sharp tongue. The film depicts Brush’s quest as she deals with the sixth-grade challenges of communicating her ideas and linking her words to a reality that is bigger than herself.
