The Betrayed

The Betrayed (2008), a crime-thriller penned by Amanda Gusack, focuses on Melissa George in the role of young Jamie Taylor which is introduced in an interesting way, as later in the episode she becomes a hostage with her child. One of her captives, Alek (Oded Fehr), has some shocking news: he says Kevin, Jamie’s spouse (Christian Campbell), owes forty million dollars to the mafia as he embezzled it. He rapes Jamie, instructing her to find the cash reserves regardless of her situation within a time limit of twelve hours. The movie’s tense story is revealed as Jamie learns more about the betrayal of her husband and her bitter decisions.

The audience goes through the complex psychologies of betrayal and surviving situations morally ambiguous because Jamie starts to realize the ties that her spouse, ‘the average American’ works for, are much more dangerous then she had thought. Jam-packed with thrilling turns, The Betrayed showcases its climax, suitable for any horror story, when Jamie finally goes against the image of her husband and sacrifices her life in order to save their son.
