Un/Happy for You

“Un/Happy for You” is the title of the latest project of of Petersen Vargas and which features Joshua Garcia alongside Julia Barretto in what is their first partnership since 2020 when they starred in “Block Z” Film. The movie looks into trying to reignite old flames and the pain that comes with cold hearted lovers returning to their modified affections.

Synopsis

An ex-boyfriend and set out to start anew with Juancho (Joshua Garcia) who relocated back to his home area only to bump into his old girlfriend Zy (Julia Barretto) unintentionally. Juancho travels back to meet his long lost lovewith the aim of closure, but transformation in events brings back emotions making both characters struggle between their past and present.

  • Joshua Garcia as Juancho: Garcia leaves the audience feeling touched as he plays the character of a lover that is having a lot of inner drama of how to deal with a revived flame.
  • Julia Barretto as Zy: Barretto is very intriguing in her role as a vulnerable woman who is was in love before and she is now having to meet her Uberex boyfriend, which calls for a lot of strength.
  • Nonie Buencamino and Ketchup Eusebio: Both portray strong multi-faceted characters who complement the main story.

Aesthetic Style

To further develop the characters and plot, Director Petersen Vargas captures the emotions through natural and artificial light along with close up shots of the character. The film develops at a minimum pace and is guided with cool colors making it ideal for a thoughtful audience.

Critical Reception

The film “Un/Happy for You” has enjoyed some sort of mixed reviews. Its atomic focus on the subject at hand has been its major selling points alongside great pictures. The downside is many argue because of the pace and the depiction’s realism, it could be hard to watch for many.
